This one is pretty cool and comes from my friend Rick Vogelbacher's website (Rick's Ultimate Bass Fishing). If you want info from the L. Erie/Tri-State (OH./IN/MI) area concerning the bass fishing, check out his site. Great fishing reports, lots of articles and a pretty active message board.
Concerning some of his observations with his Aquaview unit: "From that point, I decided to move to another area and check to see what I could see. I started looking at my sonar unit, and I thought I was seeing huge balls of baitfish near the bottom in 15 to 17 foot of water. I was completely wrong. After dropping the camera down to that depth near the bottom, I was able to observe what I thought I was seeing as baitfish on my matrix 67 unit. It wasn't baitfish, but rather debri that was being silted up off the bottom. Cause of the debri balls was carp. They were stirring these areas up. Every time I would come to what looked like a ball of baitfish, it would be a debri ball, and a big old carp would swim in front of the camera! Lesson learned. Although, there were times when I would see the same kind of ball on the unit, but suspended 12 foot in 15 to 18 foot of water. These were schools of bluegill. Looked exactly the same on the sonar unit. "
