More Puzzle Pieces on the Table
After reading Rich's article, I knew I had a nice study that compliments his work. So I dug around the library last night and found the one I was thinking of: LATERAL LINE STIMULI CAN OVERRIDE VISION TO DETERMINE SUNFISH STRIKE TRAJECTORY. In this study, "sunfish" turned out to be both green sunfish as well as largemouth bass. The researchers used "current jets" to stimulate lateral lines and force what they believed to be an un-conditioned response, that being a strike trajectory. This study by John Janssen and Jim Corcoran was first published back in 1993 in The Journal of Experimental Biology.

Ironic. . . From the ages of 12 to 21, I lived 1/2 block from Loyola/Chicago/North Campus.
Thanks for the stuff Brian.
